Data Migration
Data Migration involves examining legacy data content and structure and determines how it will fit into the new format or environment. Statistical information on the volume (capacity) and numbers of objects is used to determine the required sizing for database and file server.
Security in the legacy system is reviewed and a new security model evolves to meet the business requirements.
We have extensive experience in the transformation of document and image formats for importation into a Document Management system.
An EDRMS system typically uses a relational database to host metadata and an object store for the documents/objects. Metadata contains the information profile about documents in the object store and the two are inter-linked. The object store is typically hosted on a file server along with the system catalogue (a content index that supports full text searching across textual content in the object store.)
The process of getting data from your legacy information system or file share into an EDRMS involves quantifying the structure and type of data and then creating import sets in a format that can be consumed by the EDRMS system.
